As restrictions at the federal, state, and local level are eased and domestic passenger vessels are allowed to return to service, the health and safety of the Pacific Whale Foundation Eco-Adventures Australia passengers and crew remain at the forefront of company operations. Federal and state guidelines along with the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) concerning limiting the effects of coronavirus form the basis of our guidelines.
In order to follow social distancing regulations, we will have restricted numbers on board our vessel, the Ocean Defender. This offers passengers safety and added comfort. Our seating is forward-facing aircraft-style seats with a clear view from the vessel, and the open-air environment of a rigid inflatable boat gives a continuous supply of fresh clean ocean air.
Our expert team of Certified Marine Naturalists will still be on board to care for our guests creating an unforgettable experience on the waters of Hervey Bay. They are fully trained in all aspects of the marine environment and have completed extra modules in caring for our guests, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience from check in to disembarkation.
A contactless check-in process at our Ocean Store in the tourist terminal at Urangan Harbour compliments the increased cleaning and sanitation methods aboard our vessel. Our Ocean Store is open and already busy with bookings and gift sales for all.
We will also offer complimentary face masks to those who wish, and hand sanitising stations both ashore and aboard Ocean Defender.
Snacks aboard this year will be individually wrapped in line with current regulations and recommendations.
We will be starting our Hervey Bay Unlimited Whalewatch July 17, running daily through to October 31. At this time our 1100 whalewatch is bookable online or by telephone to our friendly team at 1800 454 310. We have the 1430 and 0700 whalewatch on standby, should travel restrictions allow further access to Hervey Bay.
We will once again be offering Swim-With-Whales at 0700 from Monday 27 July to early September as a part of our current research into the impacts of swim-with patrons on whale behaviours.
Both our Hervey Bay Ultimate Whalewatch and Swim-With-Whales ecotours remain at the same great rate of $89 for adults, and $59 for children 6 – 14 years old. Due to our reduced capacity at this time, we will not be offering concession or family discounts; we still, however, have the best price in the bay.
We are grateful for your continued support and look forward to serving you throughout the season.
